A phenomenological study of child maltreatment training experiences of school counselors-in-training

Poster 7. This presentation explores the experiences of school counselors-in-training in addressing child maltreatment, focusing on their experiences in identifying, reporting, and preventing it. Semi-structured interviews were used to identify four themes and five sub-themes related to this issue. The findings highlight the importance of (a) professional responsibility, (b) training, (c) personal experiences, and (d) decision-making. These insights contribute to a better understanding of the distinct experiences of school counselors-in-training in addressing child maltreatment.
