Table 4. The rate of substance use in the United States has been reported at 50%, with alcohol use reported at 80%. With such staggering rates counselors must work to identify and treat these individuals. One of the most popular instruments is the SASSI, with the current version the SASSI-4. This presentation will review the current psychometrics of the instrument, effectiveness with diverse populations, and the recommendations for use in a clinical setting.
